CRICKET.

PIAKO ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) iMATAMATA, Friday. A decision to apply to the South Auckland Association for affiliation as the Matamata District Cricket Association was reached at the adjourned annual meeting or the Piako Cricket Association. The rinko Association has control of a wide area, including Matamata, Morrinsville, Te Arolia and I'utaruru districts, and the opinion is held that tlie area is too unwieldy for control by one body. In the event of the application being granted, it is expected that the Piako Association will be resuscitated to include Te Arolia and Morrinsville. Messrs. F. Montague, J. li. Whelan and G. G. Griffiths were appointed as selection committee to select the team to play against the M.C.C. team when they visit Matamata. It was decided that the standard sJoz ball should be used by all clubs during the coming season.
