ABDUCTION CHARGE.

MISSING GIRL CASE.

REMAND TO WANGANUI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day. As the outcome of inquiries made by Detective H. Chestnut, of Eaetihi, following the disappearance of Phyllis Margaret Davey, .a single man, David Nathan, aged* 37, of Kaetihi, was arrested and charged before Messrs. T. L. Lee and T. S. Fagg, J-P.'s, with abduction and unlawful carnal knowledge. Accused was remanded to appear at Wanganui on October 4. Phyllis Davey, who is 15 years of age, was missed on July 17, and although a vigorous police search was made she was not heard of again until she came home on Tuesday of this week. She was out shopping at the time of her disappearance and walked from one shop into another. After that her movements were shrouded in mystery. Police inquiries were conducted over a wide area, but with little success. The police now believe that the girl was never far from the main street in her own town.
