RENT RESTRICTION.
EXTENSION OF THE ACT,

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Notice to introduce a further extension of the Rent Restriction Act was given in the Houee of Representatives j by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Hamil-! ton. This legislation commenced in 1916 and has continued to operate since with various amendments, and now applies only to dwelling houses in reepect to which orders are expressly made. The magistrate who is deciding the matters ie required to have regard to hardship which may be inflicted by a rent-reduc-tion order on the owners as well as on the tenants. Houses erected or first let prior to November, 1020, are not covered by the Bent Restriction Act.
