FINE SCORING AT MIDDLEMORE

CAPTAIN'S PRIZE FINAL. SIM AVINS COLTMAN CUP. The final of , the captain's prize match play tourney of the Auckland Golf Club was played at Mtddlemore, J. W. Guun (18) defeating A. J. Friedlander (13), 3 and 2. The course was in, good order, with the exception «o£ the Til'th, sixth and eighth holes, which were heavy alter rain. There was a large entry for the four-ball bogey competition. Considering the conditions, the scoring was of a high standard. T. W. J. Johnson,and 11. V. CoveiNJale were the winners with the flue score of 0 up. Johnson, going round in 71, with seven strokes, was 0 up by himself. 1 , . C. Savage, with a round of 70, linished S up, aud R. G. REMUERA CLUB. Reference to the short time taken tcif orm the course of the Bemuera Golf Club was made by the president, Dr. E H. B. Milium, in opening the new «l« bho «p e , °" Saturday afternoon. In October of labt venr, he stated, the idea of a club was first conceived and negotiations were commenced for the lease of the property near Lako-AVaiatarua. From then on everyone concerned had entered into the spllit 'of the venture, and the course had been xcauy for play in March.

The final round for the Ryan Cup was played by members of tho Papakura Golf Club on Saturday. Best net cards: A. Davle Of), J. Taylor CO, It. Grace 71. The competition, which was for the best total scores over throe rounds, was won by R. Grace with a score of 215. The next best scores wore: I. Footo 219, J. Taylor 221.

A match between teams picked by the president of the Hamilton Golf Club, Mr. .T. F. Strang, and the dub captain, Mr. G. H. Bindon, was played at St. Andrew's and resulted in a win for the 'captain's team by 20 games to 13, of which two were ail square.

PAPAKURA LADIES' CLUB.

A medal round was played by members of th 6 Papakura Ladies' Golf Club on Saturday. The winners were as follow: Seniors, Mrs. Charles; juniors, Miss French. , The Wednesday players' .medal match was won by Miss J. McCullough.

McLEAN BEATEN IN SCOTLAND.

LONDON, July 7. In the final of the Scottish golf championship on Saturday, 11. Tonison, the boy champion of 1031 and the present Irish champion, defeated J. McLean, the holder, 2 up and 1 to play. McLean had been taken to the 101 h green in the first, second and third rounds.
