CYCLING.

TAKAPUNA CLUB. MONDAY'S RACE TIME CHANGED. The club was fairly well represented in the Centre race last week, but none of the riders gained any of the plums. Ralph Eagles once again showed the fine form he has struck, and, but for a puncture when with the leading bunch, may have had a say in the finish. 011 Monday next, June 3, the longawaited event to be staged by this club will take place. Competition is sure to be keen, and quite a few of the clubs are openly declaring that they have the winner. Hut a surprise may be -in stoic for all. With such a big field engaged, and the long, strenuous journey to bo covered, many of the favourites will fall on the way. Everything has been thoroughly organised by the race committee, and it will not be for want of attention to detail if this race is not one of the most successful amateur cycling events ever staged 111 New Zealand. The club wishes to draw the attention of all competitors and officials to the alteration in the time of starting. The race will now start at 11.30 a.m. instead of 1.30 p.lll. This has been found imperative, 011 account of the likelihood of the race finishing in the dark if the original time of starting had been adhered to. All competitors are warned that they must report to the starter between 11 a.m. and 11.15 a.lll. and be ready to start at 11.30 a.m. sharp. Arrangements have been made for refreshments for riders at the finish. As fhe team shield for the club with the first four riders to finish is a big feature, riders are advised to ride in club colours. The course will be flagged by officials and boy scouts all the way, so there is 110 fear of any rider going the wrong way if he uses his common sense.
