ELLERSLIE TRACK

AN OFF MORNING. ADDITIONAL RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. A very heavy fog enveloped the course at Ellerslie this morning, and it was impossible to time horses, but being an off morning little fast work was done. The bulk of the work was confined to pace work on the sand. The final gallops will take place to-morrow morning. The latest -arrivals include Booklaw, Tradesman and King Rey. Tradesman and King Rey were given pace work on the sand, and both look really well after their racing at Te llapa. A. G. Cameron has been engaged to ride King Rey in the Cornwall Handicap, and he is expectcd to run a great race in that event. The Taranaki apprentice R. Savage will be on Tradesman. Ruri, who will be ridden by C. Shield in the Cornwall Handicap, was allotted serviceable work on the same track. It is doubtful if this horse ever looked better than he does at the present time, and as lie is not averse to heavy ground he should show up prominently in his engagements. The Southern hurdler Ruaform was given useful exercise. He is a fine type of hurdler, and after his good form in the South he should run well at Ellerslie. W. J. McDowell has been engaged to ride him in the Penrose Hurdles 011 Monday. Additional riding engagements are: — M. Nicol, Pahu; F. Fergus, Carlaris; S. Tremain, Tybalt; A. McGregor, Cromwell; G. Carmont, Forest Glow; 15. Sullivan, Whistling Rufus; H. Turvey, Adsum; R. Home, Monanui and Royal Potoa; O. Reed, Lady Zinnia; J. Sharkey, Valpeen (Great Northern Hurdles).
