ENGLISH DERBY.
BOBSLEIGH AMISS. LONDON, May 30. Bobsleigh, winner of the Newmarket Stakes, pulled up very lame after working oil Monday and was withdrawn from the Derby. His owner, Lord Derby, now has to rely on Fairhaven. A PROVED SPRINTER. Rebel Chief has not been asked to do any serious tasks since he arrived from Kiccarton during the week, but he looks in good solid racing condition. He displayed a lot of dash in a sprint over thvee furlongs yesterday morning and did not appear to be hampered by the going. This horse has put up some first-class performances oyer sprint distances in the south. At the Canterbury Jockey Club's spring meeting lie beat good fields in the Linwood and Randolph Handicaps, both seven furlong events, while he has several other victories and placings to his credit. His best performance recently was when he ran second to Sea Fox at Ashburton in the Flying Handicap, six furlongs, with 9.4 on his back. That form alone should warrant ■ him getting support next week.
