Owing , to a crush having taken place in a section of tho King Solomon mine (Gore) operations have been temporarily interrupted. Consequently there was no wash-up this week. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Dawn of Hope (Thames). —Tho drive on tho liangingTi'nll portion of the Golden Age reef has been advanced 4ft, the ore beiug very heavily mineralised. We have started to crosscut out into the- west wall to get the branch reef directly under where we had the good values in the level above. Two other gold-bearing reefs should be intersected in this crosscut. The wings on the footwall reef hava been advanced 4ft, tho reef being 2ft wide and good grade ore. Snrich and mate, tributers in the upper workings of the mine, crushed two loads for 4oa 12dwt of gold, and Aro and party one load for loz 17d\vt. Big lUver, —Heport for week ending May IG: —No. .4 north drive: Advanced 7ft, total distance 50ft. There is now 4ft of good-looking stone in the bottom of the lace extending for lift; up the face. A full face of s,lone is likely to make here very soon. Slopes : No. 5 stope has been completed, and filling commenced. Hise 45ft up: There is now 4ft of reef on roof of drive; gold freely Been. No. 4 south drive: Face advanced Oft, and nothing of value yet met with, but country is favourable. Stopes : No. 3 stope is almost completed ; reef looks well. Main shaft: The timber has been adjusted to the plumb and sinking progressing. Battery : Working two shifts per day. Golconda.—During the week the drive was advanced 7ft; total 173 ft from the | shaft. We have cross-cutted into the banging wall, and have picked up the reef again on the other side of the break. It was very small when picked up, but it now about twenty inches wide on the floor of the drive, and is showing nice colours of gold. The country rock on the seaward side of the break is very heavily mineralised, and tho reef looks promising for values. Mataki. —The dredgemaster reports as follows: During the week ending the 19th inst. the dredge worked for 131 hours 40 mnutes on a faco of 420 ft for a return of 330z 13dwt. The dredge pulled ahead ".!."ift in ground the average depth of which was 10t't e The ground again showed a slight improvement for the week, the bank showing more improvement than the river. The wnsh dirt in the bank is becoming much rougher and is carrying a better sample of gold.
