LAST TRIBUTE.
MR. J. CARLiW'S FUNERAL.
Tho Auckland City Council and football and other sports bodies in Auck- - land weibe prominently represented yes terday at the largely-attended funeral of Mr. James Carlaw. After a service at his late home, conducted by the Kev/F. de Lisle and the Rev. R, B, Tinslcy, a, Masonic service was held at the graveside at Waikumete. For 25 of Mr. Carlaw's 40J years' service in the City Council he held the ■ position of waterworks engineer, and '. as a mark of respect the waterworks • staffs was given a half-holiday to attend tlie funeral. The pall-bearers were. Messrs. C. Snedderi, I. Culpan, T. Spry J. Rolleson, I<\ Rebinson and G. Carr' The City Council was represented by Mr. K. J. Phelaii and Mr. A. J. Entrican formerly deputy-Mayor, Mr. J. B. Patereon, a former councillor, Mr. J. g. Brig, ham, town clerk, Mr. A. Messer,city treasurer, and Mr. A. D. Mead, waterworks engineer. The Transport Board was represented by Mr. H. H. Morgan traffic superintendent, Mr. S. M, Farrelly, store superintendent, and Meesre J. F. Hollinrake and W. Maddigan. The representative of the Zea land Rugby League wae Mr. C. Sneddea while members of the Auckland League who were present were Messrs. G. Grey Campbell and I. Culpan. The Auckland Rugby Union was represented by Messrs. ■ H. Frost and J. Arheil. Representatives ot bowling included Mr. A. E. Whittoii for the Auckland Centre, Messrs. a! Yeoman and J. Pascoe, for the Dominion. Council, Messrs. S. Coldicutt and A. G, Graham, for the Auckland Bowling Club' •The Old Colonists' Association was represented by Mr. E. J.. George and mem- ; bers of the committee. The Masons were represented by Mr. W. T. Leighton a past deputy-grand master of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, and Mr, C. Turner, of Lodge Auckland 87.
