FAMILY'S HEAVY LOSS.

MOTOR CAR AND PIANOS

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.! WHANGAREI, Thursday.

A large house owned by Mr. L. V. Dahl, at Otangaroa, Kneo, was burned to the ground last night. Nothing was saved. Mr. Dahl was in Whangarei at the time, Mrs. Dahl and her family being in occupation. The fire occurred between 10 p.m. and midnight, and with no fire fighting appliances nothing could be done. TKe origin of the outbreak is not ' known. Mrs. Dahl and her children were just able to escape. A car and two pianos were destroyed in addition to a quantity of valuable furniture. The insurances are .not available, but Mr. Dahl will be a heavy loser.
