POWER LINES BROKEN.

CUT BY FLYING IRON,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WANGANUI, Thursday.

Wanganui last night experienced the heaviest southerly gale for many years, but beyond a number of fences being levelled and telephone services being interrupted, very little damage was done. The roof of a cowshed at Upper Aramoho, near the road, was lifted clean off, and flying sheets of iron severed the telephone and power lines. The Wanganui River is in flood, and considerable quantities of driftwood arc coming down. Gatherers are.busy along banks in the city laying in stocks.
