FIRE AT TAUPIRI.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUPIRI, this day. An old landmark of the Taupiri district was removed last night when the nine-roomed dwelling owned by Mrs. IJ. E. Severne, of New Lynn, and occupied by Mr. J. E. Tittleton, who is at present an inmate of the Auckland Hospital, was destroyed by fire. The fire was first noticed by Mr*. Walter Tittleton, who gave the alarm to her husband and his mother (who is an invalid), the only occupants of the house at the time. The fire, which appeared to have started in the back of the house, by then had a good hold, and the efforts of willing neighbours to suppress it were of no avail. The occupants had time only to dress and leave the house, in which everything was destroyed. The furniture and effects were covered by a small sum in the Prudential Assurance Company, but: details of the insurance on the build-1 ing are not available, '
