EPSOM PASTOR'S DEPARTUEE.

Having accepted u call to a larger church at North East Valley, Dunedin, the Rev. James K. Reid, who graduated at the New Zealand Baptist College two years ago, leaved by the Main Trunk express this evening accompanied by hjs wife and tlier infant daughter. At a farewell gathering at the Epsom Baptist Church, the chairman, Mr. Arthur Jones, testified to Mr. Reid's pood work in the parish. He said that the church acquiesced in his departure to the promising sphere in the South and as evidence of the good feeling of the congregation handed Mr. Reid a cheque. The Rev. John Laird, M.A., president of the Baptist Union i>l New Zealand, the Rev. Knowlea Kempton, secretary of file Baptist ( ollege, and Rev. A. S. Wilson supported the chairman, regretting the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Reid, and expressing the good wishes of the Auckland Baptist ministers. Mrs. Houison on behalf of the ladies of the church, after a brief speech gave flowers and literature to Mrs. Reid; while Mr. W. McKay spoke for the youth of the church. The Rev. Mr. Reid in reply thanked the members of the church and congregation as well, ne representative visitors for their attendance and words of good will. DUt as he felt the call of God to depart it would be tragic as a milliliter of the grace of God to remain. The music and solos for the evening were supplied by Meesrs. Eric Laird. Kiishbrook and Carlisle, while Mrs. Otter acted as accompanist. The gathering concluded by supper dispensed by j the ladies of the' church. I
