HARKNESS FELLOWSHIP.
NEW ZEALANDEK GOES TO U.S

WELLINGTON, Monday. A Harkness Community Fellowship lias been awarded to Mr. J. G. Gibbs, son of Dr. H. E. Oibbs. of Wellington, and ii member of the stall" of the Palineraton North plant research station. The fellowship entitles the holder to two years' study in the United States. These fellowships were endowed by Mrs. HarkncSß, wife of a railway magnate, and a number of them are awarded to civil servants of the British Em pile. Mrs. Harkness, who was a Scottish woman, included the British! Empire in the schema with a desire to see happy relations established between America and' Britain.
