THEFT OF BRONZE.
PALMERSTON NOETH TIftTAL. (Bj Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Monday. Tn the Supreme Court to-day KcAth Elford Craig was found guilty of tn e : theft at Linton of bronze bearings valued lit £20. The trial was commenced a week ago, but on accused pleading that he wk unable to get witnesses in time, his Honor discharged the jury and ordered a fresh trial, adding that he would take ' steps to have witnesses accused needed brought to Palmereton North. This was done. Craig was remanded for sentence.
Accused was then arraigned on a charge of obtaining scrap metal by false pretences at Feildinjr, but his Honor directed the jury to bring in a verdict of not guilty before the Crown case was completed. On the evidence* the judge stated, it was plain that the metal vvae weighed and ready for delivery before licensed mentioned the reprcsentn tions alleged.
