FLYING ENCOURAGED.
NEW 'PLANES ALLOCATED. ONE EACH FOR SIX CLUBS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON; this day. The Government has made the following allocations of the six De Havilland Moth aeroplanes which have been imported for loan to approved aero clubs: One each to the Havvke's Bay and East Coast Club, the Wairarapa ami Ruahine Club, the Wellington Club, the West Coast Federated (South Island) Club, the Otapro Olub and the Southland Club.
In making allocations the Minister of Defence, Mr.. Cobbe, said the claims of the various approved clubs had received careful consideration. In the case of the West Coast Club the machine represented its initial allocation. The other club* had already been allotted two machines each, and the present allocation completed their allotment of three machines.
"The aim of the Government in purchasing a further six machines," said Mr. Cobbc, "is in accordance with the plan to further assist some of the approved aero clubs in the development of their activities."
Since the present system of assisting clubs in the Dominion was commenced, a total of twenty machines, apart from the six referred, to, have been purchased by the Government for loan to clubs. The machines remain the property of the Government until a thousand flying hours arc completed, when they are treated as the absolute property of the clubs.
