WOOL PRICES.

CHRISTCHURCH SALE. VALUES EASE ALL ROUND. HAI/FBRED DOWN %T> TO %J>. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. There was an all round easing in values at the third Christckurck wool sale to-day. Halfbred wool suffered a drop of a halfpenny to three farthings a pound, as compared with the second sale. Crossbreds and three-quarterbreds did not fall to the same extent.

The market was stronger for coarser wools, following the trend of the North Island sales.

The sale was a disappointing one for farmers, passings Deing frequent. Bidding was fairly well -spread, but seldom animated. France was the main buyer, Germany taking little, and Japan almost nothing.

Local mills were not keen buyers of super wools, and this was one factor in the weakening of the market. Halfbreds, which were erratic, were in some cases a penny a pound lower than at the previous sale. Pieces and bellies were weaker by fully a halfpenny. Croesbrcds were on a par with recent North Island values, but the general quality was not as good as in January. It included a fair sprinkling of super lots. Merino sold comparatively well up to 14Jd, which was |d higher than the best Merino price in January.
