WATER DISPUTE.
"PREMIER DIDN'T KNOW."
MR. McNAB'S IMPRESSION.
'•[ suppose T should tell you about my visit to Wellington in connection with the Metropolitan Water Board," said the Mayor, Mr. T. McNab, at last night's meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council. "Well, we saw the Premier. He's a nice old chap, but he didn't understand, didn't know anything about it. Had it not been for Sir Alexander Young, whom we put our views before, the position would have been farcical. The Premier doesn't understand at all. He doesn't understand there arc more people living outside the Auckland city than in it.
'•However, the Water Board will come, but it will be pome time yet. The Dunedin City Council spent a large sum of money to get a proper supply and can ljow supply water at 7d per 1000 gallons. The Auckland City Council spent £40.(100 to supply water to Birkenhead and sells it cheaper there than to us. "At Wellington we got as much a hearing from the Premier as though we represented Waipukurau."
