Duke of Gloucester's Visit » To Suva. "THE SHOW OF THE TOUR." (Received 10.30 a.m.) SUVA, this day. The Duke of Gloucester visited the old native capital, Bau, on Saturday. His fishing trip was unsuccessful. The Royal visitor was entertained at native ceremonies and dancing, which are described by visiting journalists as "the show of the tour." In the evening the Duke attended the Government's ball in the Grand Pacific Hotel. This was a brilliant function at which there were 000 guests. His Royal Highness was escorted from Government House by Fijian troops bearing flaming torches and running alongside his motor car. In a game of polo in the Albert Park yesterday afternoon, the Duke, Captain Arthur Curtis and Captain Derek Sclireiber played Messrs. Joske, Godley and Carew three chukkas. Major-General R. G. Howard-Vyse acted as referee. The visitors won o—s. The Duke scored two goals. His Royal Highness attended the Anglican Church in the morning. He proceeds this morning in the yacht Pioneer to a fire-walking demonstration on Beqa Island and returns in the evening when he \rtll attend a private dance at Government House, where there will bo 100 guests. On Tuesday he will again play polo at 9 a.m. The Australia sails at 11.30 for Apia. The Duke is enjoying hia' visit in perfect weather.
