MRS. MILLER CRASHES.

'Plane Smashed in Avoiding Natives. EN ROUTE TO CAPETOWN. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 3. The "Referee" states that Mrs. Keith Miller, after crossing the Sahara on a commercial traveller's flight to Capetown, had left Niamey for Cotonou, when she encountered bush fires, smoke and mists. Her petrol became exhausted and she was forced to land on a road at Calavi. In doing so she had to swerve to avoid some natives and collided with some trees, breaking the back of the machine, which is beyond repair locally. Mrs. Miller was not injured but is bitterly disappointed.
