MOTOR SERVICE.
NEW PLYMOUTH-AUCKLAND.
TO BE REINSTATED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday. As the residt of an appeal to the Central Licensing Authority the through road service between New Plymouth and Auckland,' previously conducted by Gibsons Motors, Ltd., is to be reinstated.
The application was brought before the authority at New Plymouth on November 23, and was supported by a number of public, organisations. The chief points made were the general inconvenience of changing ears and, in particular; the deleterious effect on tourist traffic that would otherwise come to New Plymouth.
About 10 months have elapsed since the through service was interrupted by the licensing authority's decision, and during the interval, according to witnesses, there was an appreciable decline in the tourist traffic from Auckland to New Plymouth.
The decision on the appeal was given at Rotorua by the authority (Mr. J. A. C. Allum) yesterday.
