N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE.
ANNUAL REUNION. The annual reunion of officers of the NTew Zealand Killc Brigade resident in Auckland Province was held on Saturday night, Captain W. F. Fowlds, M.C, presiding. The leading toasts were: "The Brigade." proposed bv Major R. Tilsey, M.C., D.C.M. (responded to by Major If. C. Mcikle); "Kindred Units," proposed by Colonel H. E. Barrowclough. D.5.0., M.C. (responded to by Colonel R. G. Milligan, D.5.0., and Colonel J. Hardie Neil, D.5.0.); and "Fallen Comrades," proposed by the chairman.
The gathering also drank the health of .Miss Jean Batten. More than passing interest has been taken in her flying career by the brigade, as her father. Captain F. H. Batten, had served with the Earl ot Liverpool's Own. He caused amusement by relating the adventures his daughter had experienced before more or less safely embarked upon her flight.
A. special "bumper" was drunk in honour of Lieutenant J. L. IT. Kayes, who lias been secretary since the annual reunion was inaugurated.
An enjoyable programme of entertainment was provided bv Lieutenant Bryce Hart (X.Z.R.8.), Messrs. A. 11. Turner and ,S. Carter.
