SIR A. GODLEY "FINED." Quite a military atmosphere was observable at to-day's weekly lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, when, besides the speaker of the day, General Sir Alex. (Jodley. tfherc were present Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, Major-General Sir George Richardson, Brigadier-General Ross, of Canada, and Colonel IT. Dawson. Sir lan Eraser, M.P., was also among those present. Dealing humorously with tins feature of the assemblage, the president, Rotarian L. Taylor, said that with live British generate in New Zealand at the present time, he shuddered as to the outcome if war should break out in Europe. It was as though the British Xavy were suddenly and completely transferred to the Pacific. Following the Rotarian custom of "lining*' Rotarians for so-called misdemeanours anil crediting the lines to the Sunshine box, the president forthwith lined Sir Alex 5/ for the extreme publicity he had received through the publication of his cartoon in Saturday's "Star." Sir Alexander inquired from Rotarian W. A. Blom field who, as sergeant of arms is in charge of the Sunshine box. whether he would take the line in sterling or in New Zealandcurrency. "In sterling, of course," promptly retorted the official. "New Zealand is an ungodly country." -i —
