SIR A. GCDLEY'S TRIBUTE.
APPEAL FOR RETURNED MEN
.Speaking as the guest of honour at to-day's meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, Sir Alexander Godlcy took the opportunity to thank the business men of Auckland for the support that had been • accorded him during the period 1910-1014, when he was training- the Territorial Force, and also for the support given to the Government, to himself and to the Expeditionary Force generally during the war. In this connection,*' he declared emphatically that then? never had been a. liner body of soldiers in any war in any part of the world than those who constituted the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The general made a pica that the utmost possible help should be given ex-servicemen. Unfortunately, this proIdem was greater than formerly, for as the years passed by disabilities arising from the war were frequently accentuated, and the position of the sufferers became increasingly difficult as old age approached. Dealing briefly with sonic of his experiences on service abroad since the war. the speaker said thai he came away from South Africa with the knowledge that the relationship between the British .and the Boers was now better than it had ever been.
