Tlio Now Zealand four-year-old mure 1 aim Queen, by Limond from Rose Queen, scored a surprise win in the Whittle6ea Trial Handicap of £150, nine furlongs, at the Fiiulon Harriers' Hunt Club races at Mooneo Valley to-day. Palm Queen is owned by ill'. W. R. Kemball, of Wellington, and was ridden by tlio New Zealand apprentice G. Dick. The Melbourne Cup candidate Verberry finished strongly into second place. New Zealand acceptors for minor events at Caulfield on Saturday include Radiant Star in the Burwood Handicap, for three-year-olds, one mile and halt a furlong; Lady Primrose, in the Mona Nursery, for two-year-old fillies, four furlongs and a half; Whernsidc and Teak, in the Gwyn Nursery, for two-year-okl colts and geldings, five furlongs; Silver Ring, Staghorii and Morbury, in the Windsor Handicap, six furlongs. The start of the Caulfield Cup has been fixed for 3,30 on Saturday. The warmlyfancied New Zealand candidate Sir Simper has drawn No. 2 (losition at the barrier. Melisandc was third in the Epping Handicap. Royal Huntihg and jMorbury were fourth and fifth respectively in the Bournfleld Park Handicap. J. O'Sullivan is to ride Hyperion and J. Munro Lelito in the Cup. I. Tucker probably will ride Appellant in Saturday's steeples. ROSEBEKY MEETING. PRINCE POMBAL SECOND. October 17.
