N.Z. CREW FOR CENTENARY. WANGANUI UNION ON WAY. The members of the Wanganui Union Club's eight-oar crew to compete in the i Grand Challenge .Cup at the Melbourne , Centenary arrived tills morning to join , the Monowai for Sydney this afternoon. 1 They have been chosen to officially represent New Zealand, and the consensus of opinion is that they will mould into a tine combination once they get acclimatised to Australian conditions. He lias a tine reputation, not only as an oarsman, but also as a sculler, having won the New Zealand singles title twice. The other members, who row in order after the above pair, are: — S. A. Heley, 25 (11.(5), A. Tonks, 25 (12.0, was formerly stroke), K. Gould, 20 (12.4), V. A. Sheppard, 21 (12.5), A. G. Moss, 2S (11.10), li. S. Mowat, 23 (11.7). The coxswain, I'eter Hartshorn, who is :i4, and weighs 8.2, is a journalist well known to Auckland. He steered the Union crew to victory in the New Zealand championship fours' at Mercer in 1914. The manager is Mr. H. J. Crotty. end the coach Mi. W. Coombes, one of the best oarsmen this country has produced. Also accompanying the team will be J\ Abbott, of the I'etone Boating Club, Wellington, who, together with K. 15. Smith, of the Waitemata Boating Club. Auckland, will measure sculls with Australia's elect in the chief sculling event—the Yarra Challenge Cup. Mr. A. C. Norden. chairman of the Auckland Rowing Association, and other rowing enthusiasts' met the Wanganui crew on arrival, and made arrangements to entertain its members while here, besides fixing up for a practice spin from the West End Club's boathousc at St. Mary's Bay. WEST END CLUB. The following programme of trials to December 31 lias been arranged by the \\ est Mud Rowing Club:—November 3, Peacock Shield, tide 4.S p.m.; November 17. Ivohn trophies, tide 3.3(5 p.m.; December 1, ICohn Shield, tide 2.24 p.m.; December 8, Barrett Cup, tide 8.45 p.m : December 15, patron's At Home, tide 2.14 p.m.; December 2G, Tauranga Regatta.
