A brisk southerly wind was blowing. Results: — AMATEURS. E. Apperly defeated 11. Hattersley, 3 s and 2. 2 T. McKay defeated P. Hughes, 4 and 3. : PROFESSIONALS. i M. Kelly defeated V. Richardson, 1 up. 1 W. Bulger defeated J. Petterson, 4 and . > Apperly revealed all his old-time form 1 in his defeat of Hattersley. In the other 3 amateur match McKay was too steady tor his opponent. Kelly showed better ability to cope with . the windy conditions in his defeat of the professional title-holder Richardson.
