ANNUAL MEETING ADJOURNED,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Thursday.

The annual meeting of the Northland Trotting Club was held last night, Mr. H. W. Crawford presiding. Owing to the future operations of the club being undecided, it was agreed to adjourn the meeting and the election of officers was held over. The annual report stated that since the race meeting.held in Whangarei in January, 1931, which resulted in a loss, the club had pursued a chequered career. In 1932 the club was in recess and in 1933 a meeting was held at Cambridge, bad weather affecting the profits. On April 30, 1934, a meeting was held in conjunction with the Auckland Club, but the result was disappointing, the profit being only £94, from an attendance of 5000 and a totalisator turnover of £14,735. A rebate of -2V6 per cent on the totalisator turnover was granted by the Government, and with the monev so obtained the Whangarei Racing Ciub had been paid £200 due. Despite a debt of £60 to the Trotting Conference, the club was able to face the coming season with a credit of £175.

There was considerable discussion on a recommendation by the committee that a race meeting be held in Whangarei on December 1, but after a letter, publication of which was withheld, had been read from the Whangarei Racing Club, it was decided to adjourn the meeting, and a committee was appointed to interview the Racing Club. The Trotting Club is sub-lessee to the Whangarei Racing Club in the Kensington Park racecourse. OWNERS AND BREEDERS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. REFERENDUM ON BETTING. Oyer seventy trotting enthusiasts were in attendance at the third meeting of the Auckland Owners, Trainers and Breeders' Association at Newmarket last evening, Dr; M. G. Pezaro being in the chair. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Hon. E. R. Davis; M.L.C.; president, Dr. M. G. Pezaro; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. T. Paul, E. G. Parkes, H. .W. Burch, Ernest Davis, M. J. Moodabe and A. Cooke; lion. secretary, Mr. C. E. Craig;' lion, treasurer, Mr. A. Downs; lion, auditor, Mr. D. R. Revell; committee, Messrs. E. Bridgens, J. Gee, S. M. August, R. J. Sterling, F. J. Smith, C. Cowan, A. T. Ncwdick, G. McKendrick, G. H. Stubbs, G. Robertson, J. McKendrick, E. C. Webberley, D. R. Revell, and two representatives to be elected from the Waikato.

It was unanimously decided to elect Mr. F. Knight a life member of the association.

Mr. S. M. August suggested approaching the Auckland Trotting Club relative to changing the system of betting for the next meeting to the old system, 75 and 25 per cent, but the chairman did not agree with the proposal, and the matter was left over until next meeting of the association.

Regret was expressed that the Auckland Trotting Club would not arrange a two-year-old parade to be held at the Christmas meeting, and it was decided to again approach the club in an effort to get them to reconsider their decision.

A ballot on systems of betting was taken, and resulted in a complete victory for the single pool with three dividends in fields of nine of over. Ninety votes were recorded, the voting being: Single pool, with three dividends in fields of nine or more, 42; single pool, two dividends, 29; win and place, 17; there also being two informal votes. It was decided to ask the Auckland Trotting Club to postpone the receiving of nominations for the meeting this month from October 5 to October 8, this being after most of the horses had raced at the Waikato meeting on October 6. THAMES CLUB.
