TE AROHA CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The president, Mr. It. L. Somers, occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Te Aroha Trotting Club on Wednesday evening. The balance-sheet for the year ended July 31 showed income £1985 0/8 and expenditure £2236 19/6, the net loss for the year being £251.18/10. The stakes paid out at the annual trotting meeting amounted to £930 and the Government taxation £682 5/11. The club's assets were set down at £1242 7/3, and the liabilities (including capital account reduced to £630 13/10) totalled £1242 7/3. The following officers were declared reelected:—President, Mr. R. L. Somers; vice-presidents, Messrs. P. Baine, R. Burke and G. Goodfellow; treasurer, Mr. G. H. Deverall; four members of committee, Messrs. G. L. Burmcster, T. J. Hickey, P. T. Rowc and J. A. Hepburn; auditor, Mr. M. H. Hume. In a general discussion on the future of the club, opinions were expressed that for the past three seasons the institution had certainly been unfortunate in ' the matter of nominations and acceptances. There was, however, reason to expect that the club would bo better patronised and the sport, as far as this district was concerned, would improve. The matter of applying for a permit for an extra meeting would be considered.
