ULTIMATUM TO GOVERNMENT
(United P.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 20. The Dublin correspondent of the "Daily Mail" says that the Free State Minister of Public Health, Mr. Sean T. O'Kelly, is considering a grave situation which has arisen in Limerick owing to numerous defaulting ratepayers. The County Council already has an overdraft of £80,000 and obtained the Government's permission to increase it to £120,000. The bank, however, refused, suggesting that the council ask the Government for the money which is regarded as an ultimatum to the Government. The banks similarly refused increases for other county councils' overdrafts, though they were sanctioned by the Government. It is expected the authorities will now order further large seizures of property of defaulting ratepayers.
