No Steps Yet in Reconstruction

ASSISTANT MINISTER BEATEN (Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Xo steps are likely to be taken toward a reconstruction of the Commonwealtr Ministry until the Prime Minister. Mr J. A. Lyons, has completed his fortnight's holiday at his home in Devonport, Tasmania.- The new Cabinet \yil be announced and Parliameni probably will reassemble on October 23 the day after the arrival of the Duke of Gloucester in Canberra. There is a good deal of speculation as to -whether Mr. Lyons will seek th( Country party's co-operation in tht formation of his Ministry. It is statec that pressure is being brought to beai on him not to close the door entirely against that party. At Launccston, when the distributor of preferences in the Bass seat was made, Mr. J. A. Guy, Assistant Ministei of Commerce in the last Government was defeated by Mr. IT. 6. Barnard Federal Labour. The final figures were:— >Ir. Barnard 11,984, Mr. Guy 11,818.
