OVER THREE INCHES.
DOWNPOUR IN WAIKATO. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The heaviest downpour of rain for some years fell at Hamilton yesterday, when particularly squally weather was experienced. The climax was reached at 10 p.m., when the streets were flooded for some time. No serious damage is reported in the district. The Waikato River, which is exceedingly dirty looking, has brought a large quantity of debris downstream. The river rose about 4ft during tlje night, and is still rising rapidly, but the borough waterworks is unaffected. At Hamilton 3.02 in of rain was recorded for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. to-day.
