FRUIT PROBLEMS.
Planting of New Areas to be Discouraged. DOMINIONS' EXPORTS. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, June 12, A sub-committee of the Imperial Fruitgrowers' Conference recommends a further reduction in the number of varieties of apples exported, by the elimination of lower grades. It was agreed that successful marketing depends on prices not being raised against the consumer. The conference resolved that while the market continues to be unsatisfactory, planting of new areas in the Dominions for export should be discouraged, and new planting in Britain should be left for decision by the home-growers.
