L.C.C. HOLDS OUT.
LABOUR'S CHALLENGE. Will Build Waterloo Bridge Despite Commons. OUT OF OWN REVENUE. . (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, June 12. The London County Council, after a debate, adopted by 7(3 votes to 47, a joint recommendation of the Highways and Finance Committees that immediate steps should be taken for the rebuilding of Waterloo Bridge out of the council's revenue. This action is taken in the face of a refusal by the House of Commons, on the Government's instigation, to finance this scheme of London's new Labour rulers. The Government contends that rebuilding of the present structure would meet the needs.
