BIRKENHEAD SPORTS.

CENTRAL BODY FORMED. • The proposal for a combiued sports organisation for Birkenhead and Nortucote was carried a stage further last evening, when a meeting .of representatives ot various sports bodies decided that an association be formeti. The provisional constitution is to bo circulated to all sports bodies and others interested in the districts, and will come up for consideration and adoption at a future meeting. A provisional committee will also oiiicialc until the various clubs have affiliated under the new body, and are in a position to elect permanent officers. Mr. .Tames I'rlckett, presi'ient of the liirknnhcad Ex-Servicemen's Association, who presided, said the whole idea behiirti the scheme was the co-opera-tion of all sports bodies in the districts, but not to clash with any. The objectives included a sports ground, and a gymnasium in a suitable hall for footballers, wrestling and boxing. One object of the iioav hotly wouM be to help the existing gymnasium to find more accommodation. There were schemes afoot to build halls, but it remained to be seen if these would materialise. The date of the next meeting was left to the committee to convene, when the views of the various organisations were ascertained regarding the proposed constitution.
