CYCLE ROAD RACE.
NEW ZEALAND TEAM INVITED. MELBOURNE CENTENARY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, has received from the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sir Harold Smith, as chairman of the Centenary Celebrations Council, particulars of the round Victoria cycle race to be held during the centenary week. It is suggested in th,e letter that a New Zealand team should enter, for the intention is to make the race an international one. The race will extend over a full week, and 1109 miles are to be covered. The route will embrace Melbourne to Warrnamboul (105 miles), Stawell (148), Bendigo, via Ballarat (150), Wangaratta (141), Omeo, via Buffalo (154), Sale (152), and back to Melbourne (198 miles). 4 The prize-money will total £2424, the main prizes being £500 and a £100 gold cup for the fastest time, and £500 for the handicap section. .
