LATE MR. W. G. BLACKIE
FUNERAL THIS MORNING. .REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDANCE. , The funeral took place this morning of the late Mr. Walter Guthrie Blaekie, senior inspector of schools in the Auckland education district, who collapsed and (lietl while playing golf at the Akarana Golf Club's links on Sunday. There •was a representative attendance, including many members of the teaching profession. The service was conducted at Hillsiboro' Cemetery by the Rev. Knowles Kenipton, assisted by the Rev. J. Far•quharson Jones. Wreaths, were sent by the Auckland •Education Board, the Wanganui Education Board, the Akarana Golf Club, the Auckland School Committees Association, the Auckland and Southland Ibl-anches of the New Zealand Education ■Institute, the Auckland Manual Teachers' Association, the Auckland Bowling JGlub, the Auckland Headmasters' Association, tlie stafl" of the Auckland Education Board, the Auckland Women Teachers' Association, and the late Mr. Blackie's fellow inspectors of the Auckland Education Board. There were also imany private wreaths. i The Auckland .Education Board was. represented, ,at the funeral by the chairman. Mr. T. U. Wells, and Auckland members.
The Auckland brancli of the New Zealand Education Institute was represented by tho president. Mr. J. H. .DNTenzies, and members of the executive.
