"CUT" RESTORED.
DRAINAGE BOARD.
ALL WAGES UP TO £250. ::>> ¥i POSITION OF OUTSIDE STAFF. "That the cut of 10 per cent in salaries and wages imposed by resolution on Jlay 21 and June 17, 1931, shall be restored as from April 1, 1034, on £250 of the salary or wages of each employee."
The foregoing resolution, proposed by the chairman, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, was carried unanimously at this morning's meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, when the estimates of revenue and expenditure for the current year were under consideration.
Mr. Hutchison explained that when the "cut" was made the first £2 of wages of the men on tiie outside staff was exempted, but the balance of their was reduced. All members of the inside staff, with one exception, had had their salaries reduced. The effect of the resolution was to restore the "cut" to every member of the staff up to £250. Those who received more than £250 a year were still subject to the "cut," but only on their salaries in excess of £250. The cost of the restoration would be approximately £325 for the twelve months, and the estimates had been framed accordingly-
"Any discussion?" asked the chairman, when the resolution was moved.
Mr. M. J. Coyle: I feel very pleased. Mr. A. Kosser: Speechless! At least I am.
