FATHER O'BRYNE.
DEATH IN HOSPITAL
PARISH PRIEST AT EPSOM.
The death occurred at a private hospital this morning of the Rev. Father John O'Byrne. Born in Blackrock, County Dublin, 40 years ago, Father O'Byrne 'was educated at Mount Mellary and the National University of Ireland, where he graduated. Later he studied for the priesthood at Rome, a'hd finally at Oscott College, England. He was ordained in Dublin in 1917 by Bishop Miller, and arrived in Auckland with the late Bishop Cleary towards the end of that year. He was assistant at Hamilton, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland, and at Onehunga before becoming first parish priest of the Epsom parish in 1921. He built up a flourishing and wellequipped parish, and was much esteemed by the parishioners. *The body will be removed to the Chinch of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Epsom, to-day and will remain there until Wednesday morning, when it will be taken to St. Patrick's Cathedral, where P.equiem Mass will be held. The interment will follow at Panmure. Father O'Byrne leaves a brother ami sister, who live in Auckland.
