IMPERIAL CHEMICALS.

Increased Profit Indication of British Recovery. INCOME TOTALS £7,663,945. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, March 20. Business and financial circles had awaited with great interest a report issued this evening of Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd. As the concern is one of the greatest undertakings in Britain, with interests in many branches of industry, the figures were regarded as in some measure providing a criterion from which the progress made towards recovery in Britain could be judged.

Tho figures show gross income for the past year £7,603,945, compared with £.0,415,423. After allocating £1,000,000 for- central obsolescence and depreciation fund and income tax, there is a net income of £0,001,005.

A final dividend is recommended of 5 per cent, making per cent for tlie year, which compares with a total distribution for the previous year of 0 per cent. A dividend of 1 per cent is also rccomnieiulcd on deferred shares, as against nil. A sum of £1,000,000 is placed to general reserve as against £500,000, and £500,139 is carried forward. The report was not issued until the Stock Exchange had closed, but the street market regarded the figures as very satisfactory and share prices rose.
