FORBIDDEN CITY.
LIGHT ON ITS MYSTERIES. CALCUTTA, March 10. Lhasa, the forbidden city of mysterious Tibet, is at long last to be introduced to electric light. The city will be illuminated, and equipment is now on the way from London. The transport will be difficult, for the cable alone, weighing 400 tons, will have to "o from the railhead at Darjeeling to Lhasa, 400 miles along rough narrow tracks, and mountain passes 1700 feet high will have to be negotiated. The first 300 miles will be by mules. The equipment will then be- transferred to Tibetan porters, occasionally relieved by yaks.
