SEARCH FOR GOLD.

Sir M. Campbell to Prospect in South-west Africa. ACCOMPANIED BY POLICEMAN. (Received 11.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 20. Sir Malcolm Campbell, the British motor speedster, has received permission to prospect the coast between Luderitz and Walfish Bay for gold. A reef in tho region is already a prohibited diamond area and consequently a policeman will accompany Sir— Malcolm. Before the German occupation prospectors discovered a rich outcrop at Naukluft, on the fringe of the Nainib Desert, but failed to locate a reef. A party of Australians tried in 1893.

Rumour attributed Sir Malcolm Campbell's objective to be the treasure of the great Mogul, hidden on, the west coast.
