PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MISS PATTRICK'S CASE. RESIGNATION DISCUSSED. DELEGATES IN CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUX EDIX. this day. Delegates from ail branches of the Plunket Society attended the Dominion conference which was called to discuss the position which lias arisen as the 1 result of the acceptance of the resignation of Miss Pattrick from the directorship of Plunket nursing. Mrs. McGeorge, president, stated that the council had decided that a statement be made of the reasons which led to its asking for !Miss Pattrick's resignation. The president appealed to all not to allow personal feeling to sway them. She was aware that many delegates had attended because they felt an injustice had been done to Miss Pattrick. but she asked all to keep an open mind. Mr. Fel (Nelson) moved that Miss Pattrick be invited to be present while the council's statement was heard. This resolution was carried, the chairwoman explaining that Miss Pattrick had been invited. The latter was applauded on entering the hall. Minister Supports Executive. The Minister of Health, the Hon. J. A. Young, said he dreaded lest illconsidered action arising from the conference should destroy the good work. If that happened, the work would be carried on by other agencies. Xo Government could afford to allow New Zealand's reputation in this field to suffer through disputes within the society. As a member of the council's advisory board, he had the utmost conlidence in the council. Its action centred on recognition of the fundamental principle that servants of the organisation should adapt themselves to the responsible executive, and to expect the executive to adapt itself to the dictates of its paid officers would lead to chaos.
