SNOW STORM AND WINES.
AUSTRALIAN EXHIBIT IN U.S.A. (Received 2 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 21. One of the most interesting features of the wine show, which is in the process of arrangement, is that Mr. Dow, Australian Trade Commissioner, will probably secure the assistance of a group of well-known wine experts, resident in New York, to partake in a special wine test of Australian vintages on Friday. Their opinions and conclusions will be ' published in the interests of American wine lovers. Due to the snow storm, which still continues to tie up the city, the number of visitors to the wine show was less than was expected to-day. However, the crowds arc increasing in number. The majority of the visitors to the show express great interest in the Australian exhibit, but are principally surprised that Australia is a great wine producer. It is understood that the Australian Government's quota application of 30,000 j gallons is only one of 18 applications , before the Alcohol Control Board, at : Washington. This will be acted upon, it is Believed, within the next 24 hours, ! although the result will not be an- j nounced until February 28. It is indi- i cated, however, that all Australian ' shipments bearing American Consulate j visas of a date between March 1 and ( April 30 under the forthcoming quota I will be admissable to the country, no ! matter ,how long they are in transit. t|
