;• \ ... COOK COUNTY BATES. ; (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) i GISBORNE, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Cook County Couhcil to-day it was reported that the rates had con>e in well this year, £26,000 of the £35,000 levied having been collected. Also £6363 of arrears were collected. As showing that traffic had been thrown on the mountainous southern, highway through the absence of the railway, 3000 bales of wool and 3000 rams were conveycd over tlio road last month.
