GAS INDUSTRY. PROGRESS IN. DOMINIONS " (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Wednesday. Forty delegates from all parts of the Dominion attended the annual conference of the Gas Institute, which was opened to-day. The visitors were welcomed at a civic reception 'by the Mayor, Mr. John Miller, who referred to the fact that -Southland contained timber, coal and other minerals, vast tracts of agricultural and 1 pastoral land and the finest sceneiy and sporting grounds in the Dominion. The president, Mr. W. B. O'Toole, stated that in the last 20 years the annual output of gas in the Dominion had increased from 2,643,000 cubic feet to 4,083,000 ft. Consumers had increased from 101,378 to 185,691, With the lifting. of the depression the outlook for the gas industry would be brighter than ever. ■ • I
