a A r fresh nor'-easterly breeze on Saturday gave North Shore oarsmen a course of fairly sheltered water from North Head a to the clubhouse. The club captalu of last season, W. Dean, donned his club's colours r and took part, and by stroking the winning crew demonstrated that he is in good form at present. Two visiting oarsmen, K. Bosl well and.T. Boswell, from the L'ctonc Club, li Wellington, participated in the race. K. I, Boswell is rowing No. 6 in the Wellington i, provincial eight. Kesults: — i, First heat.—W. Dean, Bacon, Willetts, Baker, met' K. Boswell, Vowles, Wallett and Coleman. From a good start Dean took i the lead, but at the torpedo wharf Bosl well's crew, rowing a longer stroke, drew i level. The crews raced neck and neck, i, and with 100 yards to go, Dean took the , lead and won by half a length. Final.—Korn, Judkins, Walsh, T. Boswell l met W. Dean's crew. Korn took the lead i from the start, but Dean quickly closed i up on the leaders, and an exciting and l evenly-contested race was witnessed for i most of the journey. Dean called on his , crew near the finish and forged, ahead to win by a bare length. The winning crew i was W. Dean, Bacon, Willetts and Baker. ; Mr. B. Kutledge acted as judge.
