WEST END CLUB. With most unseasonable and unsuitable weather, the result of a strong northerly wind, the races for the Mrs. John Clark Shield were got oft' on Saturday with considerable difficulty. The course along the western wall was used. In the first heat McFnrlanc, Lambie, Douglas and Bellamy met Bowling, Parsons, Notton and Mel'herson, and after an interesting race McFarlane won by two lengths. In the second lieiit 51. Conway, Poland, Rockel and Allum met Donovan, Such, McDonald and Fearon, Donovan winning by one length after leading nearly all the way. Final.—Donovan met McFarlane. From an even start the crews rowed side by side for half the distance, where McFarlane gained a slight advantage of a canvas, and in a hard, close finish won by half a length. The winning crew was : V. McFarlane, L. Lambie, K. Douglas, N. Bellamy (bow), F. Jennings (cos). BIGELOW FARRELL CUP. After a scries of elimination races, the following were left in the annual contest for the above cup, which was rowed off during the week. Water conditions were ideal, us distinct front Saturday's races: M. Conway (scr), F. Conway (Is), J. Newcombe (9s), R. Allum (16s). First Semi-final.—ll. Allum beat M. Conway by a length, the scratch man just failing to get up. Second Semi-final.—J. Newcomb heat F. Conway by two lengths, after a hard finish. Final.—lt. Allum beat J. Newcomb, the winner rowing a good race to stall off Newcomb, despite a determined effort by the latter.
