FAT STOCK AT FEILDING. QUIET SALE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FEILDING, Thursday. Butchers controlled the bidding at the weekly i'at etock sale iu Feilding yesterday, when short yardinge of both sheep and cattle were on oiler. Prices were at. under:— Fat Sheep.—With no outside competir tion, butchers had the market to them* selves, and heavy and overfat lines were rather neglected. Good shop sheep brought fair prices, but the rates were below what had been anticipated. Prime shorn two-tooths made to 24/, with others at 21/3; best woolly lambs, 20,6 to 21/9; good, 19/6 to 20/3; others, 17/9 to .18,0; good shorn lambs, 18/; small sorts, 15 "2 to 16/; primest ewes, 15/1 to 15/3; overl'at lines, 14/3 to 14/8; choice wethers, 22/2; unfinished lines. 20/ to 21/6. Fat Cattle.—Beef met with the same sale as the eheep, buyers securing requirements at prices under late market rates iu many cases. _ Vendors met the slow market in practically every instance, but thie failed to stimulate the bidding. Good heavy Shornhorn bullocks, £6 5/; Polled Angus steers, handy weights, £3 15/; Jersey steers, good conditioned, £3 3/; Hereford cows, weighty sorts, £3 15/; Shorthorn, good, £3; Jerseys, well finished, £2 15/; odd lots, £1 14/, £1 19/, to £2 1/; prime heavy Hereford heifers, £3 17/6; Shorthorn, good butchers' weights, £3 5/ to £3 7/; others, £2 4/. NORTHERN DISTRICTS, WHANGAREI, Tuesday. Messrs. Dalgety and Company report holding a sale at Waipu yesterday. A fair yarding of cattle came forward and there was a good number of outside buyers present. Prices were well up on late rates. Quotations were:—Fat cows, up to £2; fat heifers, to £2 6/; run cows and calves, £3 18/; store cows, £1 to £1 13/; boner cows, 20/ to 28/; Jersey bulls, £2 10/ to £3 7/6; Shorthorn bulls, to £4; Jersey calves, to £1; weaner pigs, 10/ to 11/8.
