(From Our Own Correspondent.) FEILDING, Thursday. To-day auctioneers held the first auction salo of fat stock this year. Hitherto both fats and stores have been offered on Friday of each week, but the auctioneers have now arranged to offer fat stock on Thursdays and stores on Fridays. For to-day's sale there was a heavy yardivg of fat sl'oep and a light offering of fat i cattle. Fat lambs did not reach paddock export prices, but fat wethers were well up to export values and fat ewes above the export rate. In some cases fat ewes with good mouths were purchased by farmers for breeding purposes at well over market prices for fat ewes, the country beinjt very short of breeding ewes. Fat cattle sold well considering the quality of the offering, the Polled Angus breed ' commanding top prices. The following is the range of prices:— Primest lambs, Southdown, 21/6; Romney, 21/; prime crossbred, 20/; heavy, : well-finished lambs, 18/0 to 19/2; good weights, 17/4 to 18/; light and unfinished, 15/; prime two-tooths, 20/ to 21/; good weight, 17/; prime heavy wethers, 21/ to 21/6; good, 19/5 to 20/11; medium, 18/10; prime two-tooth owes, 21/; prime ewes, good mouths, 15/ to 16/ (farmers' ' purchases); prime ewes, 13/1 to 13/11; good lines, 12/8 to 12/11; b.f. ewes, 13/7.
